SBI: Man involved in the car accident that killed war correspondent Anastasia Volkova not assigned suspect
The State Bureau of Investigation did not issue a suspicion notice to the serviceman involved in the car accident which killed the war reporter Anastasia Volkova, reports the Kramatorsk office of the SBI in response to a request from "Novyny Donbasu".
According to the SBI, the Kramatorsk Office of the State Bureau of Investigation received a police report about a car accident involving an army serviceman at 4:13 p.m. on May 30.
The police have previously established that a Volkswagen Transporter minibus driven by a serviceman and a VAZ-2106 car driven by a civilian collided at the Bankivska–Shevchenko St. intersection in Slovyansk, Donetsk oblast. The collision killed the latter car driver on the spot. The momentum car movement after the collision also killed the pedestrian Anastasia Volkova.
The SBI started a pre-trial investigation under Part 3 of Art. 286 ("Violation of rules related to traffic or driving safety by a person that drives any vehicle if they caused death of several persons") of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
"No person has been notified of suspicion or detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the CPC of Ukraine. The pre-trial investigation is underway," the SBI said.
The war reporter Anastasia Volkova died in a car accident in Slovyansk (Donetsk oblast) on May 30, 2024. She worked with the channels Dom, Novyny Donbasu, and Hromadske Radio.
