IMI's Mediabaza Odesa/Kherson trains journalists to adapt content for social media
Working with social media requires SMM specialists to be diverse, consistent, and flexible in their work, said Yelyzaveta Moskvina, coach and chief social media manager of the online news outlets MykVisti and Vilne Radio, during a training class at the IMI's regional hub Mediabaza Odesa/Kherson.

The training class was attended by journalists and freelancer reporters from Odesa oblast.
The coach taught the participants to prepare content for social media and explained how to adapt it from the website for posting on blogs and social media platofrms. After all, texts posted on different resources have their own characteristics, so it is necessary to adapt to the format of each platform.
Yelyzaveta Moskvina identified the key principles of creating short and engaging texts:
- consult with colleagues when repackaging content;
- post different content to Instagram, Telegram, Facebook, TikTok, etc.;
- take inspiration from other media outlets' ideas and adapt them for your own audience;
- test out new formats for presenting information on different platforms.
In the second part of the class, the coach explained to the participants why news outlets need to maintain their own social media at all, how to use them to attract a new audience, expand their capabilities and shape a strong brand, which can become a pillar for professional growth.
“Most importantly, do not be afraid to experiment and test formats out!” she concluded.
