GPO set up interdepartmental task force to coordinate investigations into crimes against journalists
The Office of the Prosecutor General has set up an interdepartemental task force to coordinate investigations into crimes against journalists. This was announced by the representative of the Office of the Prosecutor General Oleh Pylypyuk on September 17 at an online discussion "Security of journalists in Ukraine: existing challenges and ways to overcome them,as “Detektor Media” reported.
This interdepartmental working group was headed by Oleg Pylypyuk.
"By order of the Prosecutor General, with the consent of law enforcement officers, an interdepartmental working group was set up to consider and control criminal proceedings against journalists," he said.
Meetings are planned within this working group. Pylypyuk offered to involve all comers, if representatives of other law enforcement agencies agree.
In addition, the Office of the Prosecutor General has updated an internal working group that will process and summarize information on combating criminal offenses committed against journalists. It was also headed by Oleg Pylypyuk.
As IMI reported, on March 17, the Office of the Attorney General announced the establishment of a working group to analyze the progress of law enforcement in criminal proceedings against journalists.
On June 5, the Office of the Attorney General proposed the establishment of an interagency working group to coordinate investigations into crimes against journalists, which would include representatives of all law enforcement agencies.
