Co-regulation body for print media created
The Co-Regulatory Body for the Print Media Sector has been officially registered as a public association, reports the National Council for Television and Radio Broadcasting (NCTRB).
The public association “Co-Regulatory Body for the Print Media Sector” has been registered with the Ministry of Justice. The Unified State Register of Legal Entities, Individual Entrepreneurs, and Public Organizations lists the registration date as December 4, 2024.
A task force of print media representatives worked on creating the authority. The association's director Serhiy Chernyavskyi reported to the NCTRB that the creating process had been completed.
The constituent founders' meeting approved the charter of the public association as well.
The co-regulatory body was registered within six months from the date of the first meeting of the task force, in compliance with Article 93 of the Law of Ukraine “On Media”, the NCTRB notes.
The task force that worked to create the co-regulation body for print media was formed on July 4, 2024.
In the future, the public association is to create task forces that will develop broadcasting codes. These task forces will include NCTRB representatives. As per to Article 95 of the Law, they must constitute at least a third of the total number of members of each task force.
On January 30, 2023, the National Council for Television and Radio Broadcasting published the procedure for creating co-regulatory bodies. There are to be five of those:
- for audiovisual media services;
- for audio media services;
- for print media;
- for online media;
- for video sharing platforms.
Task forces to organize and hold constituent general meetings of media outlet representatives and develop draft statutes of the five co-regulatory bodies are being formed.
On October 16, 2023, the NCTRB announced the start of the procedure to create co-regulation bodies in three areas: online media, audiovisual media services, and audio media services.
On December 12, 2023, the NCTRB formed a task force to create a co-regulation body for online media, which the Institute of Mass Information joined.
