In Kyiv oblast, two journalists had tires of their cars slashed

18.11.2017, 13:22
On November 16, in the city of Velyka Dymerka (Kyivska oblast), journalists Anatoliy Harkusha (media outlet “Trybuna-Brovary”) and Vitaliy Lytvynenko (“Hromadskyi Zakhyst Kyivshchyny” - “Hroza”) had tires in their cars slashed by unknown individuals, “Trybuna-Brovary” reports. The incident took place between 15:00 and 17:00, when the journalists were performing their professional duties at the first session of village council of Velyka Dymerka Aggregated Community. As the media outlet describes it, during the work of the journalists at the session there were minor clashes between the journalists and the head of civil formation of the village council "Zakhyst", Valeriy Bilyk, who tried to forbid the journalists video recording and photographing, because "it is forbidden near the table in the assembly hall". Valeiy Bilyk was also the one who told the journalist that the tires of their cars are damaged after the session. The cars were parked near the building, but not near each other - there was about 40 meters between the parked cars. All four tires on both cars were slashed. Anatoliy Harkusha is assured that it was not some random hooliganism - he thinks that this act was commited to prevent journalist from doing their jobs. The journalists called the police and documented the incident.
