Gordon’s newsroom taken under fire

19.01.2022, 22:15

Newsroom of Gordonua online edition was taken under fire today, on January 19, as its founder Dmytro Gordon said.

He said this in a published YouTube video message , according to the publication's website.

The newsroom is located on Shchekavytska Street in Kyiv. Employees of the publication found a bullet hole on one of the windows.

Dmytro Gordon related this incident to his professional activityof journalist.

"My friends, it is a hard task to tell the truth in a country where freedom of speech must be fought for every day. But I do it, I always say what I think, and I tell the truth. As you can see, many people probably don't like it, " Dmytro Gordon said.

He expressed confidence that the crime would be solved, "because there are cameras everywhere."

“Besides, as my sources in the SBU told me, the SBU dormitory is located opposite, where a special post has been set up as part of the NSRD (criminal intelligence and surveillance operations - ed.) regarding me, where everything that happens here, in front of the entrance [to the office of Gordon] is fully and completely recorded. So I am absolutely sure that the Security Service of Ukraine, together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, will answer the question of who shot at the windows of Gordon online newsroom, who has freedom of speech and struggle for freedom of speech in Ukraine stuck in throat, ”Gordon said.

The police probe into the case (criminal proceedings is initiated under Part 1 of Art. 194 of the Criminal code of Ukraine - intentional destruction or damage of property).

The investigative and operative group recorded the damage to the outer glass of the double-glazed window. The damage to the glass was not through. Currently, law enforcement officers are identifying witnesses and eyewitnesses, watching videos from surveillance cameras.
