Human Rights Commissioner receives 10 information access denial complaints from Volyn oblast in 2025

The Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights received 10 complaints about violation of the right to access public information from Volyn oblast from the beginning of 2025 to April 8, the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights reported in response to a query from Maya Holub, the Institute of Mass Information representative in Volyn oblast.

According to the digital document management system of the Commissioner's Secretariat, in 2024, the Commissioner received 61 appeals from Volyn oblast reporting violations of the right to access public information.

As previously reported, Volyn's investigative journalism center Syla Pravdy has had a positive experience of appealing to the Commissioner. In 2023, journalists received data on the salaries of the Lutsk National Technical University's rector only after appealing to the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights.
