Alina Pash won’t represent Ukraine at Eurovision-2022 by decision of Eurovision National Selection Committee
Ukrainian Organizing Committee of the National Selection for Eurovision-2022 has decided to terminate Alina Pash's participation in the Selection. The singer won’t represent Ukraine at Eurovision-2022.
This decision was made by the organizing committee on February 16 at an extraordinary meeting, according to Suspilne.
"The reason for the decision of the Organizing Committee was the official response of the State Border Guard Service dated 16.02.2022 regarding the inaccuracy of the information provided to the Public Broadcaster," the statement reads.
The actress agreed with this decision.
The Organizing Committee reminded that the paragraph 3.4. of the Rules of the National Selection for Eurovision-2022 stipulated that in case if the Public broadcaster established the fact of submission of any inaccurate information or concealment of information or other significant circumstances about the participant, the Public broadcaster had the right to terminate participation in the selection at any time.
Now Suspilne (Public broadcaster) can decide on participation of a representative from Ukraine from among the other finalists, according to the organizing committee.
It will be recalled that As IMI reported, on February 15, the chairman of the board of the Public Mykola Chernotytskyi stated that he would appeal to law enforcement agencies regarding Alina Pash's forged documents.
On February 15, Andriy Demchenko, a spokesman for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, said that the SBGS did not issue any certificate of legal crossing of the state border of Ukraine through the Chaplynka checkpoint in 2015 to Alina Pash, the winner of the 2022 national selection.
Alina Pash explained on Instagram that she had instructed her team to receive the above-mentioned certificate. She also said that she had re-requested the border guards and insisted that she had not broken the law.
On February 14, the Public Broadcaster asked the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine to confirm or deny the forgery of the certificate of crossing the state border with Crimea, provided by the team of the winner of the national selection for Eurovision-2022 Alina Pash.
The Suspilne has stated that it would not sign an agreement with Pash to participate in the international song contest "Eurovision" until the verification and clarification of the facts is completed.
It will be recalled that on February 12, singer Alina Pash won the national selection for Eurovision-2022 with the song "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors". At the same time, the Kalush Orchestra, which took second place, claimed about the falsifications and its intention to challenge the results of the competition in court.
The public broadcaster stated that they had no evidence that Alina Pash had violated the selection rules.
This year the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 will take place in Turin (Italy). The city will host participants from 41 countries at the Pala Olimpico arena, first in the semifinals on May 10 and 12, and then in the grand final on May 14.
