NV editor-in-chief Vitaliy Sych said that on September 22, the preparatory court session in People's Deputy Viktor Medvedchuk's lawsuit against the media outlet was supposed to begin, but his lawyer suddenly refused to conduct this case, writes NV.

"Want to hear a funny story? We were supposed to have a trial with Medvedchuk today. That's all," he wrote to himself on Facebook.

The lawsuit is related to an article from 2019 which claimed that Medvedchuk has been "working with the KGB" since the mid-70s.

His defense tried to refute this information, but after the godfather of the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin's daughter was exchanged for Ukrainian defenders, his lawyer filed a withdrawal application, which is why the trial has been postponed to November 11, 2022.

"Now he is officially not only a certified KGB agent, but also a state traitor. Today, the lawyer refused to represent Medvedchuk's interests", noted the NV editor-in-chief.

As reported by IMI, on September 21, Ukraine returned 215 Ukrainian defenders from Russian captivity. 108 of them are soldiers of the Azov Regiment. They were exchanged for Viktor Medvedchuk.

Viktor Medvedchuk has been previously notified of suspicion under Part 1 of Art. 111 (treason), Part 1 of Art. 258-3 (supporting a terrorist organization) and Part 1 of Art. 438 (theft of national assets) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
