Zelensky put into effect NSDC to establish cyber troops
The President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree enacting the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) of May 14, 2021 "On urgent measures to cyber defense of the state", which provides for establishing of cyber troops in the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
The relevant document №446 / 2021 together with the mentioned decision of the National Security and Defense Council was published on the website of the head of state on August 26, as Interfax-Ukraine reported .
In compliance with the decision of the NSDC, the govermnent must immediately calculate the amount of logistical and financial resources needed tor form and ensure the proper functioning of cyber troops, as well as the staffing of cyber troops, taking into account the optimal ratio of servicemen, reservists and other categories of persons.
"Based on the results of calculations, within two months it is incumbent to elaborate and submit to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine a bill on the establishment and operation of cyber troops in the system of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine," the document reads.
It is noted that the decision was made to protect the sovereignty of the state, to ensure its defense capabilities, to prevent armed conflict and to repel armed aggression in cyberspace.
The presidential decree shall enter into force on the day of its publication. According to him, the Secretary of the Council Oleksiy Danilov is responsible for the implementation of this decision of the National Security and Defense Council.
