Zelensky accused Akhmetov's TV channel of manipulations
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused oligarch Rinat Akhmetov's “Ukraina 24” TV channel of manipulating the facts. He said this at the press conference on May 20, as “Ukraynska Pravda” reported.
“Tax increase. You keeps on with this theme. I know it was spoken about on the air. I believe that you, in person, are manipulating the facts when you say 'tax increase' is not serving for Ukrainians and not for society," Zelensky told journalist for “Ukraina 24” TV channel.
“I realize what channel you are from and what you are talking about. Indeed, there is an increase in the iron ore tax in the new law… I heard your program and I heard how you lead people to understand that there will be pressure on small and medium-sized businesses, that there will be pressure on people, that people will pay more taxes, - it is not true.
You are a journalist, you have the right to say whatever you want, but you are now passing me the information I explained to you from whom. I don't need to pass anything. I am an adult, ” the president added.
According to Zelensky, the government understands whom of the entrepreneurs earns how much, but when there is a war in Ukraine, when there is nothing to pay pensions with, the government will not allow to earn 200-300% with the help of national mineral resources.
Zelensky also told the TV channel's journalist that he knew where the "shadow" business was: "Look at our gas stations."
