"This is an egg!" anti-award’s third edition for sexism in mass media
It has already become a fine tradition to present the Anti-Award "This is an Egg!" on the eve of the International Human Rights Day to the media and public figures for sexism. In 2021, sexism as phenomena did not decrease in politics and the media, so the anti-award "This is an Egg!" designed to draw attention to sexist statements and publications.
Last year, Oleksander Kornienko and David Arahamiya, leaders of the People's Servant party, received such an anti- award for their sexist remarks about their colleague Iryna Allahverdiyeva; Kyiv mayoral candidate Iryna Vereshchuk, and ZIK, now a closed pro-Russian news TV channel.
This year, the founding organizations of the anti-award added a special nomination "Preacher of the Year" for rhetorics aiming to teach women what is their "real role".
It will be recalled that the anti-award "This is the Egg!" has been founded in 2019 by NGOs “Women in Mass Media”, “Institute of Mass Information”, ZMINA Human Rights Center, “Detector Media”, “Campaign against Sexism in Mass Media and Politics “Respect”, Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union. In 2020, the project "Elections without sexism" joined the initiative.
The nomination is intended to draw attention to the problem of the stereotypes in representing of women in mass media and of discrimination by public persons based on sex or gender.
Anti-award nominations:
*“Sexist story”, the story or report with some sexist phrases that was broadcast or made public on TV, in printed press, online media, or on the radio.
*"Sexist phrase", for sexism of public figures (officials, politicians, opinion leaders, etc.), made public in mass media or social networks.
*Special Anti-Award :preacher of the Year” for a publicly made evaluative judgement in the media or in social network on woman and her social role.
The Organizing Committee will consider statements and publications in the Ukrainian media that came out between November 1, 2020 and November 1, 2021. Any natural or legal person can nominate candidates for the anti-award, except for public authorities, local governments and political parties. Anonymous applications are not considered. The number of nominations from one person is unlimited. Candidates for the award are asked to enter in the short FORM by November 21, 2021.

The official hashtag of the anti-award is #цеяйце (this is the egg).

All applications will be considered by the Committee and a short and long list of applicants will be published. Distinction "This is an Egg! " Will be presented during a press conference on the eve of International Human Rights Day .
