The court released female suspect in the case of Sheremet to house arrest

On August 11, Kyiv court of appeals changed the restriction measure to the suspect in case of Sheremet, Yulia Kuzmenko, from being held in custody to around-the-clock house arrestз, “Ukrainska Pravda” reports.

It was partial satisfaction of the demands of defense, that requested to cancel the arrest of Kuzmenko.

Kuzmenko, while speaking in the court, reminded about Soviet repressions, and said that she, and other accused in this case, are being persecuted to discredit the movement of volunteers and veterans.

Press and public audience were not allowed to the session. 

As IMI reported before, Pavlo Sheremet died in Kyiv on July 20, 2016, due to explosion in his car.

On December 12, 2019 Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov informed, that National Police detained and declared suspects in murder of Pavlo Sheremet. 

On the same day, at the briefing where President Volodymyr Zelensky himself was present, Vice-head of the National Police, head of criminal police Yevhen Koval named five suspects  in the case of murder of journalist Pavlo Sheremet: sergeant of Special Operations Forces Andriy Antonenko, military medic Yana Dugar, volunteer Yulia Kuzmenko and the veterans of the armed conflict in Donbas Inna and Vladyslav Hryshchenko.

Koval said that the explosives were planted under the car of the victim by musician and volunteer of Anti-Terrorist Operation Andriy Antonenko, and medical doctor Yulia Kuzmenko.

The investigators main version about the motives of the murder of Pavlo Sheremet is an attempt to cause destabilization of social and political situation in the country.
