On August 28, the Town District Court in Brovary ordered to place under arrest  for 60 days the suspect of arson of the car belonging to the investigative journalism program Skhemy ("Schemes: Corruption in details") with an option of bail of UAH 175,650 (around $6 thousand), as Radio Liberty reported.

The prosecutor's office requested the suspect could not be released on bail. that he be remanded in custody for 60 days without the possibility of bail. Prosecutors pointed out that the suspect hailed from the Luhansk region and so, he might flee to the region which are beyond Kyiv's control.

Сiting ongoing investigation, the prosecution asked not to name the suspect.

During the hearing, the suspect refused to testify against himself.

Earlier, police said they had detained two people who allegedly were involved in the car aron.  Two more people are put on a wanted list.

"We see a great risk for further investigation. The bail set by the court is relatively small and can be paid quickly either by the suspect's relatives or by those who benefit from his speedy release. Because he is only a suspect of arson and can testify against the organizers or customers. Instead, if he is released and goes into hiding from the investigation, it will significantly hamper the progress of the investigations. As far as we know, the other two suspects are already hiding from the investigation, ” Oksana Maksymenyuk, lawyer for Borys Mazur commented it on.

As IMI reported, on August 26, police detained a suspect of arson of a Skhemy journalist's car. He said two of the four suspects in the arson of the car editorial placed on wanted list

After the arrest Andriy Portnov published a photo of a press card, which was allegedly found during a search in the case of the "Skhemy” car arson. This was an expired press card of a freelance correspondent of the party newspaper “Solidarity. Petro Poroshenko's bloc ”.

On August 17, in Brovary (Kyiv region) unknown people set fire to the car of the journalistic investigation program Skhemy, which belongs to the driver of the program - a member of the film crew Borys Mazur.
