Spokesman for the 80th separate airborne assault brigade Yuriy Lelyavsky killed in action
Head of the public relations service of the 80th separate airborne assault brigade of the UAF Airborne Forces, Captain Yuriy Lelyavsky, was killed in a battle with the Russian invaders, the press service of the UAF Airborne Assault Forces Command announced.
"Yuriy Mykolayovych Lelyavsky is a professional journalist. In civilian life, he worked for many years in various publications and national TV channels. In 2014-2015, Yuriy covered the alarming events in the East of Ukraine, for which he was illegally captured by the pro-Russian militants of a self-proclaimed 'republic.' Understanding the importance of information warfare, Lelyavsky, a reserve officer, enlisted in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. He was the head of the press service and public relations service of the 10th mountain assault brigade and the 80th separate airborne assault brigade of UAF AAF," the brigade reported.
Captain Lelyavsky met the Russian army's large-scale armed aggression against Ukraine in the country's South, where his unit was conducting combat operations. He always worked at the forefront, covering the battles as they went on.
"The brigade respected him for this, and his reports appeared repeatedly in domestic and foreign mass media. The UAF Airborne Assault Forces Command, the 80th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade of the UAF Airborne Assault Forces, and all public relations officers of separate army forces express our condolences to the family and friends of the deceased captain Yuriy Lelyavsky. We promise to take revenge for him!" the message reads.
As IMI reported, Dmytro Shypovsky, cameraman for the "Privat TV: Kharkov" TV company and Al Jazeera who defended Ukraine in the ranks of the Armed Forces, was killed in Donetsk oblast.
