Siumar is sued due to incident related to journalists from “Skhemy”

MP Vasyl Nimchenko filed a lawsuit to District Administrative Court of Kyiv city against the head of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for freedom of speech and information policy, Viktoria Siumar, in relation to the incident with the journalists of program “Skhemy”. This was reported on the website of the Judicial authorities of Ukraine. The claimant requests the court to judge unlawful the actions of the committee head regarding intervention into the activities of agency of the prosecutor's office, pre-trial investigation of the National Police of Ukraine, which conduct the investigation in the criminal case on obstruction to lawful professional activities of journalists. Also the claimant requests the court to bind Siumar to abstain from such actions in future. The claim includes the fact that the agenda of the committee included revision of the incident when journalists Mykhailo Tkach and cameraman Kyrylo Lazarevych were obstructed in taking footage by their story by Viktor Medvedchuk's security guards near VIP terminal in the airport of Zhuliany on November 7, 2017. Currently the court decides on opening the proceeding in this administrative case. As IMI reported before, on November 7, 2017, the security guards of the leader of the organization “Ukrainian choice” Viktor Medvedchuk attacked the filming crew of the program “Skhemy”.
