RBC Ukraine journalist Dmytro Braslavsky joins the UAF
RBC Ukraine journalist Dmytro Braslavsky has enlisted in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. He announced this on July 2 on Facebook and shared the details with the IMI representative in Donetsk oblast.
"The 'media front' just lost one soldier. I no longer write news for RBC Ukraine. These were wonderful nearly 2 years of work, over 9,000 thousand news stories where I discussed the situation in Ukraine, the world and in the swamp (Russia – Tr.). One of these stories even got 1.5 million views... I never wrote a news piece about Ukraine's victory, because one must be bringing it closer with his own efforts," Braslavsky wrote.
In the comment to the IMI representative, he said that he had already left for training camp.

"I went [to the enlistment center] of my own will to update my documents, the medical ones in particular, as the requirements have gotten stricter, and I am fit for service now. I didn't even try to argue. Of course, they did some exams, and after that they told me something along the lines of: 'The army is your thing!'" said the journalist.
Braslavsky also added that as he went there he was convinced that enlisting was necessary: "If not us, then who? That is, it was not a surprise for me, and I understand perfectly where I was going and what for. I wanted to go through this procedure and I had thought that I would have a little more time to select the unit where I would like to go, but everything happened much faster."
For the past several years, Dmytro has worked not just as a journalist with RBC Ukraine, but also as a deputy editor-in-chief at the regional news agency Kramatorsk District News.
Dmytro described his path to the army on Facebook, sharing his impressions from visiting various state structures and talking to people.
Dmytro Braslavsky was born in Slovyansk, Donetsk oblast.
