Prosecutor of Cherkasy complained to police about journalist who wrote about his assets

Cherkasy police department of the National Police of Ukraine opened criminal case against local journalist of online media outlet “Kropyva” Oleksandr Bezprozvannyi for publication about assets of the vice-head of the department of the Cherkaska oblast prosecutor's office, Oleksandr Kozhushko. The case was opened based on the complaint of Kozhushko, who considers that the journalist revealed confidential information about him. This information was published at the website of the media outlet. The publications in question are as of September 18, 2017 - “To keep his savings, the prosecutor chose solid antiques” and as of November 9, 2017 “Golden” prosecutor, in his prime, went to court to get pension increase for disability”. Later, based on those TV channel "Inter" produced a story. Now the journalist faces a criminal case against him, based on part 1, article 182  of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, ("Violation of privacy").   In his comment for IMI, Oleksandr Bezprozvanny informed that his publications about the prosecutor were made based on information that in the declarations of the official, and based on information from the register of court resolutions. So far, the case is open, but in fact, it is not being processed in any way. The investigator took a sick leave, and when the journalist called the investigator on his own initiative, the investigator said he would return the call if needed, when he is back at work.
