President signs law on preventing anti-Semitism - Ukrinform
"The document aims to create a legislative mechanism to combat anti-Semitism in Ukraine and prevent its manifestations in order to protect human rights, prevent cases of xenophobia, racism and discrimination," the President’s Office said.
As expected, the implementation of the law will further strengthen the culture of tolerance in Ukrainian society.
"Volodymyr Zelensky's support for this law testifies to the consistent position of the President and our state on preventing such a shameful phenomenon as anti-Semitism in Ukraine," the President's Office said.
In particular, the document defines the term "anti-Semitism" and lists its manifestations. The law also includes a rule banning anti-Semitism and its manifestations.
Civil, administrative and criminal liability is envisaged for violating the requirements of the law. These include the right to compensation for material and moral damage caused to a person who suffered as a result of anti-Semitism and its manifestations.
As Ukrinform reported, on September 22, the Ukrainian parliament passed a law "On Preventing and Counteracting Anti-Semitism in Ukraine." Some 283 MPs voted for the document.
