A photo exhibition about the work of Ukrainian journalists in wartime was presented in two locations at Sweden’s oldest university, the Uppsala University, on 22 November, the Monismanien Prize ceremony day. The exhibition was organized by the Institute of Mass Information and was located in the central building as well as in the Göterborgs Nation hall.

“This exhibition is about the visibility and importance of the work of Ukrainian journalists who are risking their lives to show the world the truth about Russia’s crimes and aggression. These photos remind us that even amid great hardship, freedom of speech and professional integrity remain our driving force.

“We are not victims of this war: we are a political nation that is fighting for its future and at the same time the future of Europe. I am especially glad that young people and students will be able to see the reality of Ukrainian journalists’ work and their fight for the truth,” said Oksana Romaniuk, director of the Institute of Mass Information.

The Monismanien Prize is awarded to organisations and persons that have made significant contributions to defending freedom of speech. This year, the Monismanien Prize was awarded to the Institute of Mass Information (IMI) and PEN Ukraine.
