The print district newspaper Promin (Mashivka hromada, Poltava oblast) is closing down due to financial struggles, editor Yulia Rostyahay announced in a Facebook post.

Rostyahay said that the closure would end 90 years of the newspaper’s history.

“Financial struggles and other production difficulties, which Promin has been fighting with all its might to address over the past few years, have not been resolved. We have adapted, looked for new opportunities, but, in the end, we have to inform you that LLC Editorial Office of the District Newspaper “Promin” is ceasing operations,” the post says.

The team assured that they would fulfill their obligations to subscribers, advertisers, and other stakeholders.

“But we cannot offer subscriptions for the first half of 2026. I would like to note that the team used 100% of their capabilities and worked at full capacity. Each of us did everything possible to make each issue of Promin interesting, special, and unique,” the post reads.

The newspaper’s editor added that the question of the newspaper’s further existence was resolved by many factors.

“First, we were thrown off track by the denationalization, and then by the pandemic, economic problems, the Ukrposhta reforms, and the war,” the post says.

As reported earlier, the Poltava oblast-based newspapers Kozelshchynski Visti and Hadyatskyi Visnyk have gone out of print after the start of the full-scale war.
