Anatoliy Dementiy, co-owner of the newspaper Ridnyi Kray. Hazeta Hadyatskoho Zemstva (Poltava oblast), died on 5 June from the wounds received in action on 24 May, Ridnyi Kray announced on Facebook. Hadyach.Сity reported this as well.
“Our friend, comrade, kindred spirit, co-owner of the newspaper Ridnyi Kray. Hazeta Hadyatskoho Zemstva, Ukrainian soldier Anatoliy Dementiy (Hunter Daf) has passed away. We will probably only fully realise the scope of Anatoliy’s personality with time, when we learn about all his good deeds, actions, efforts to help people, support his friends and his contribution to Ukraine’s development,” Dementiy’s colleagues wrote in a Facebook post.

Hadyach.Сity reported that Anatoliy Dementiy was severely wounded in a Russian drone attack while performing combat duties on 24 May. Medics fought for his life, but the serviceman died of his wounds on 5 June.
Anatoliy Dementiy was born on 14 December 1980. He enlisted in the Ukrainian Defense Forces on the first day of Russia’s full-scale invasion. He served in the Ivan Vyhovskyi motorized infantry brigade No. 58 as chief sergeant. He was also a member of the “Hadyach Safari”, a resistance movement which operated in February–March 2022 as Russian troops were trying to advance into the northern areas of Poltava oblast. In 2024 the UAF Commander-in-Chief awarded Anatoliy Dementiy a Golden Cross for excellent combat performance.
Anatoly Dementiy was also known as an experienced dog trainer, owner of the “Hunter DAF” kennel, and judge at the Cynology Union of Ukraine.
“He was there when the CUU’s All-Ukrainian German Jagdterrier Club was created and made a significant contribution to the development of hunting dog breeding in Ukraine. Anatoliy Dementiy brought special honour to Ukrainian cynology by becoming the first representative of Ukraine to win the champion title at the most prestigious international competitions IV-DJT FCI,” the Cynology Union of Ukraine reported in a Facebook post.
