On October 1, the Odesa TV channel "Hrad" closed their news and analytics programs. The company's editor Larysa Shvets reported this to the Institute of Mass Information representative in Odesa oblast.
According to her, the lack of an advertising market and any state support, even in terms of signal distribution, lead to the destruction of regional media outlets.
"Odesa lasted the longest in this sense. Because there are more channels making local product. From the nearly 20 channels operating five years ago, today there is only one commercial channel with no daily news programming. Hrad TV is currently rebroadcasting the united telethon. Only the TV team for news and analytics, which produced regional content and daily news programs, was closed after working with no breaks even after the start of the war. I haven't heard anything from the founders about rebranding the channel to resume the regional broadcasting," said Larysa Shvets.
"Hrad's" first TV news release came out on November 8, 2005, Intent reports. The channel's co-owner Victoria Hrynko clarified to the media outlet that the channel is up for reformatting, but for now the company will stop broadcasting news.
According to YouControl, the channel's final beneficiaries are Anatoliy Balynskyi and Victoria Hrynko.
In early September, Odesa's Channel 7 closed down, and the local website USI lost funding.
