NSDC warns against a disinformation video against Ukraine's accession to NATO that is being spread around online
The Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine warns agains a disinformation video against Ukraine's accession to NATO that is being spread around online.
The video is titled "6 Reasons Why Ukraine Should Not Join NATO" and is allegedly made by the European Security & Defense College, an EU body for joint security training.
The Center for Countering Disinformation notes that the information about the video's creators is not true.
In addition, the Center notes, the video's main talking points also turned out to be fake:
- The EU will be forced to suspend the green energy reform, since the allocated funds will be used for rebuilding Ukraine instead;
- NATO aid to Ukraine will come at the expense of EU state healthcare programs;
- The EU will be forced to fight against increasing Ukrainian corruption.
"Spreading such content is a provocation intended to create negative buzz around the 'Ukrainian issue' and to gradually reduce the Western support for Ukraine," the Center notes.
Also, the CCD warns that one should check their information carefully, even if it is supposedly published by well-known Western institutions.
As IMI reported, earlier, the Center for Countering Disinformation at the NSDC reported that Russian propaganda media were actively pushing the subject of negotiations.
