Yuriy Mihashko, soldier and production designer at Novyi Kanal, has been killed in action, Novyi Kanal reported in a Facebook post on 3 January.
Yuriy died in combat in Sumy oblast.
“Painful news for the entire Starlight Production team. Our colleague, Yuriy Mihashko, has been killed in action. […] A few days ago, Yuriy died in a battle in Sumy oblast. An extremely painful loss. We extend our sincere condolensces to Yuriy’s family and all his relatives, friends, and colleagues,” the channel said in a statement.
Yuriy worked as Novyi Kanal’s production designer for about 10 years, and was a production designer on other well-known projects by the Starlight Production media group.
He enlisted in the Defense Forces in March 2022.
According to the Institute of Mass Information, Yuriy Mihashko is the 123rd media worker to die in the course of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
