MFA demands that Hungary remove false information about Ukraine from a school textbook

07.09.2022, 12:20

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine demands that Hungary correct the false information about Ukraine in the school geography textbook.

This was stated by the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleh Nikolenko.

According to him, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is aware of the situation with the Hungarian 8th grade geography textbook.

On September 6, Ukrainian diplomats attended a meeting at the Hungarian Foreign Ministry, during which they stressed the inadmissibility of presenting facts about Ukraine in an unreliable and distorted way.

"We demand that the false information in the textbook is corrected as soon as possible," said Oleh Nikolenko.

As IMI reported, a state centre in Hungary developed an 8th grade geography textbook full of anti-Ukrainian propaganda and false facts which may "program" schoolchildren to have a hostile attitude towards Ukraine. In particular, the textbook's authors state that what is happening in Ukraine is a civil war in which russia is non-complicit.
