The media professionals met in a casual setting, sharing their experiences working under martial law, discussing the issues that news outlets face today and the challenges faced by journalists in Chernihiv oblast specifically, as it borders Russia and Belarus.

They also discussed future events at the hub and media outlets’ needs as of today.

Playing journalism-themed “Alias” with professional terminology and inside jokes was the highlight of the event, sparking a lot of positive emotions in the participants.

“I spent this year’s Journalist Day with the Mediabaza Chernihiv hub. I would like to shout out the Mediabaza team for their effort creating the themed “Alias”. Community support is important not just in working hours,” said Suspilne Chernihiv journalist Oksana Rekun.

The meeting participants also stressed that an opportunity to recover after hard work, talk to colleagues, and feel the support of the professional community is especially important today.

“We had a great time on Journalist Day. I liked the light-hearted and friendly atmosphere: with no pathos, but lively discussions with colleagues from different news outlets and a good mood. I liked the “Alias” game the best: there was a lot of laughter and surprising associations.

“It was nice to just be together, to talk not just about the profession, but also about life, books and movies.

“And the meeting place was a cozy corner by the Desna, where you can really breathe.

“Such a relief is necessary now. Thank you to Mediabaza Chernihiv and to my colleagues for the warm company and a wonderful evening,” said Chernihiv Media Group’s Oleksandra Fedorenko.
