Law enforcement officers detained a photographer from Poltava region on suspicion in raping a minor

On August 2, law enforcement officers detained a well-known photographer from Poltava region as suspect in raping a minor girl.

This was reported at the website of Sumy oblast.

On August 1, district police officer was addressed by a woman residing in Sumy rayon, who informed the police that her 9-year-old daughter was seeing an adult who did some inadmissible actions to her. 

As it turned out, the girl met the man in a social network. they exchanged messages for several days, then agreed to meet. The man insisted that the girl should not tell anything to her parents, the prosecutor's office reports. 

“On July 31, the man came to pick the girl up in his car, promising her to drive her to McDonalds for a snack, but instead brought her to a rented apartment where he did to her sexual actions that can be characterized as a form of rape”, the report says.

The suspect continued to write to the girl about the next meeting, and asked her to bring her friend, another girl, with her. This message exchange was already under the control of police, who identified and detained the man on August 2 in the neighboring  oblast.

The man resides in Poltava region, he is 31, and he is a well-known photographer. Now, he is being checked for other similar crimes he might have committed before. Currently he is under custody, and the court is deciding on his pre-trial measure. According to the law, he can be sentenced to up to 15 years in prison for the crime.
