"Kyivstar" reports an intense cyber attack that caused the technical failure. The company's press office informed Suspilne about this.

"Kyivstar" assures that their subscribers' personal data have not been compromised.

"On the morning of December 12, the 'Kyivstar' communication network was targeted by an intense hacker attack, which caused a technical failure resulting in connection services and Internet access being temporarily unavailable," the company's press office reported.

The operator involved law enforcers and special state services to record the details and consequences of the illegal interference in the work of the "Kyivstar" network. They are now working in the company's office.

"As of now, we know that our subscribers' personal data have not been compromised. At this time, the operator's experts are working on eliminating the consequences of the hacker attack in order to restore communication and start providing services again as soon as possible," the statement said.

As the IMI reported, the mobile operator "Kyivstar" suffered a large-scale outage in the morning of December 12. Users cannot make calls, send messages, or check their account. They also have no Internet access and can not log into the "Kyivstar" app. The company's website is down.

The company has said that their experts were working on resolving the problem that caused the mobile and Internet connection to disappear.

According to the media outlet dev.ua, the massive technical failure in the work of the largest mobile operator "Kyivstar" was caused by a hacker attack targeting the core of the network.

The main alternative to mobile communication is landline phones. If they are not available, you can keep in touch using messengers such as Viber, WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, etc. The apps will work with Internet access such as Wi-Fi connection.

In the absence of any mobile or Internet connection, the State Emergency Service recommends moving to the nearest facility equipped with a landline telephone and/or radio while observing personal safety rules. Such facilities include buildings of local authorities, police offices, etc.
