Kherson blogger Kostyantyn Ryzhenko says that he recognised himself in a photo posted by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in a press release reporting on the prevention of a series of terrorist attacks and of the assassination of a media personality in Kyiv, as per Ryzhenko’s Telegram post.
In the press release, the SBU reports that a Russian FSB operative has been exposed while preparing a series of terrorist attacks in the Kyiv subway and large shopping malls. The suspect was also instructed by the Russian special service to assassinate a media personality in Kyiv.
The blurred photos published by the SBU do feature a person who looks like Kostyantyn Ryzhenko.
Kostyantyn Ryzhenko lived and worked in Kherson until the summer of 2022, when he fled the occupied city and moved to Kyiv, where he has lived since.
The Institute of Mass Information has reached out to the SBU for comment, asking them to confirm or deny this information.
On 21 December 2022, Kostyantyn Ryzhenko reported that an unknown man had tried to shoot him with a gun late on 20 December. He wrote about this in a Telegram post, attaching a photo of plates similar to those of a bulletproof vest.
