01.03.2018, 10:38
TV channel “Avers” journalists state they were assaulted and obstructed by a group of unknown men on the territory of LLC “Tsunami” (lumber processing enterprise) in the city of Rozhyshche (Volynska oblast) on February 26.  The filming crew was attacked, their arms twisted to take their camera and cell phone. The camera was damaged in the process. This information was released in the story of the channel. According to the channel, armed men attacked their filming crew when the journalists were taking footage as a part of their journalist investigation about illegal felling of oak. At the enterprise, the journalists found hundreds of oaks without state-provided marking. The journalists called police to the cite, but the police officers refused to accept complaints from the filming crew. According to the journalist, they started documenting the complaint only when journalists called to head of the local National Police branch, Petro Shpyha, and when the investigator from the main office, Andriy Lytvyn, arrived to the site. IMI requested a comment on the incident from the enterprise “Tsunami”. In their comment for "Detector media", the company "Tsunami" refuted the accusations of journalists and informed that they intend to file documents on misconduct to the Commisison on Journalist Ethics, as journalists trespassed private land without any permits, were in danger (because a crane worked there), and were infringing  upon commercial secret. The company promised to provide the relevant photos and videos.
