In Ternopil, men wearing camouflage were not allowing journalist to get to city council session

03.12.2017, 13:34
On November 30, in Ternopil, unidentified men wearing camouflage uniforms were not letting the staff correspondent of "Ukrainske Radio" Natalka Koltun to visit the session of city council. The journalist reported this to IMI personally. According to her, on that day near the building of the city council there was a picket of local people who demanded to cancel the newly imposed by the mayor ruling that those who are not officially registered in the city need to pay a fee to the state-owned kindergarten. the entrance to the kindergarten was blocked by big men wearing camouflage uniforms. Their goal was not to let through to the session any council members who were expelled from "Svoboda" recently. They let through some of the journalists, but some were not allowed in, including Natalka Koltun. The journalists claims these people are not a part of official security of the city council. In the end, the journalist managed to get in, but only after the journalist mentioned that their actions can be identified as crime described in article 171 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Then, they called city council official, Kateryna Kalush, who told them to let the journalist through.
