Institute of Mass Information representative Kateryna Sereda has joined the expert board of the parliamentary Human Rights Commissioner’s representative in Mykolaiv oblast.

The decree to this effect was posted on the Commissioner’s official website and signed by Dmytro Lubinets on 6 October 2025.

The board includes a total of 12 members:

  • representatives of human rights organisations;
  • lawyers;
  • servicemembers;
  • regional human rights experts.

The expert board first convened last week and elected Kateryna Sereda as co-chair, reports the office of the Commissioner’s representative in Mykolaiv oblast.

“It matters to me that the board focuses not just individual cases of human rights violations, but on systemic problems such as freedom of speech, the safety of journalists, and access to public information. I hope that the board will become an effective platform, not just a body that exists ‘on paper,’ and will help establish a real dialogue between journalists, the public, and the authorities,” Kateryna Sereda said in a comment to IMI.
