A case has been opened regarding the murder of French journalist and photographer Antoni Lallican by Russian troops in Donetsk oblast on 3 October and the wounding of Ukrainian journalist Heorhiy Ivanchenko, reports the Donetsk Oblast Prosecutor’s Office.

A pre-trial investigation into the case has been initiated under Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (war crimes).

According to the investigators, the occupation troops likely used an FPV drone to attack the outskirts of Komyshuvakha village (Kramatorsk district). The strike killed a French citizen (journalist Antoni Lallican) and wounded his Ukrainian colleague along with three more civilians.

The victims were diagnosed with:

  • concussions;
  • explosive and craniocerebral injuries;
  • shrapnel wounds;
  • bone fractures.

They have been provided with medical assistance. The final assessment of the impact is underway.

Ivanchenko’s leg had to be amputated; he has a long period of rehabilitation ahead of him. His coworkers have announced a fundraising campaign to support his treatment.
