IMI recorded 31 lockdown-related violations of freedom of expression
The Institute of Mass Information recorded 31 violations of freedom of speech related to the lockdown announced in Ukraine on March 12 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Thus, on June 18, IMI recorded one case of obstruction to journalists. The incident occurred in Dnipro: Khrystyna Malikova, journalist with the Vidkryty TV channel, was assaulted in a store where she was filming the lockdown compliance.
The journalist was attacked by a saleswoman and a store owner. As a result, Khrystyna Malikova's mobile phone was confiscated and the video recorded on it was deleted. The journalist was bruised.
In general, the largest number of violations was recorded in Kyiv and its region and Dnipropetrovsk region (six cases for each), in Kherson region : four, Lviv region: three, in the regions of Chernivtsi, Poltava, Khmelnytsky and Odesa: two cases for each, and in Donbass region, in Cherkasy, Mykolayiv and Zaporizhzhya: one case for each.
We will remind, as of June 12 IMI recorded 30 violations of freedom of speech connected with the lockdow declared due to coronavirus pandemic.
