Zhytomyr journalist Tetyana Khmel announced a fundraising campaign for her husband's army unit on Facebook.
She opened donations on May 7, her husband's birthday, and said that she wanted to close them in 20 days – on her own birthday.
"This is the third birthday that we are spending apart. And you know, we have one dream – to celebrate this day together at last. To meet him, to hug him. And in fact, you help us with this. As you may have already guessed, I'm opening donations for my husband's unit. The boys are asking for a Mavic 3-T, it's almost 200 thousand, and I'm asking for your help," wrote Tetyana Khmel.
In her comment to the IMI representative in Zhytomyr oblast, the journalist noted that this is her sixth fundraising campaign since the start of the full-scale war; her last campaign was in March.
According to the journalist, donation campaigns are moving extremely slowly now, so she decided to start a series of classes on wartime media literacy and information security for different target audiences. People will be able to attend the classes in exchange for a donation.
The classes tartget educators, village council staff, and businesspeople. As of now, Tetyana already has scheduled classes in several territorial communities.
Tetyana also appealed to everyone who wants to greet her on her birthday, asking them not to give her any presents, but to convert all gifts into donations.
"I don't need flowers, I don't want any presents. Please, whatever you want to give me, convert it into a donation. Do it, send the sum you can spare and help me close this fundraiser so that the boys can successfully complete their combat mission. So that victory comes in Ukraine as soon as possible and families like mine and thousands of others can finally reunite," said Tetyana.
