In Zaporizhzhia city council, the journalist of 061.ua Kateryna Maiboroda, who was first offered to pay for copying 190 pages of orders, was later allowed to come and to copy the documents. The journalist reported this in her Facebook entry, and confirmed to IMI representative in Zaporizka oblast.
“The city council sent me a response to my request, but not all requested information was available in a digital form, so they offered me to scan 190 more pages, warning that it will cost me a certain amount of money”, the journalist commented.
“We had the same situation recently with other request from the editorial office, so I called the contact number. In the department, they said that according to the Law, I need to bear expenses for copying. At once, I asked the head of the department to check clause 4 in the first part of Article 14 in the Law of Ukraine “On Access to Public Information”, according to which I have a right to photograph the necessary documents”, Kateryna Maiboroda commented to the IMI representative.
The head of the sector of access to public information checked the law and agreed. At the agreed time, Kateryna was given the documents she request for work, and the place where she could photograph them.
