Websites Mukachevo.net and Zakarpattia Online under DDoS attacks
On June 10 and 11 the websites of Zakarpattska oblast Mukachevo.net and Zakarpattia.Online were under hacker attacks. According to the editor-in-chief of Zakarpattia.Online Oleh Dyba, their website is under a targeted DDoS attack and despite their efforts to keep the website operational it is working with glitches. This is not the first time – such attacks started half a year ago and still continue. The media outlet decided not to involve the police as they don’t believe it would do any good.
Another online media outlet under attack is Zakarpattia informational business portal Mukachevo.net. According to its editor-in-chief, Dmytro Tuzhansky, they have already grown accustomed to such attacks and learned how to counteract them. The hackers target not only the server itself, but also the domain’s DNS. Two thirds of the requests generated as the DDoS attacks come from Russia and other post-Soviet countries. They also have been under such attacks for half a year. They also do not intend to involve police as they don’t believe the police would be able to catch the perpetrators, and deal with the attacks with their own resources.
Both Dyba and Tuzhansky pointed out that during the presidential elections on May 25 the attacks grew stronger.
