VolynPost reports three months of massive DDоS attacks

The editorial office of the information agency VolynPost reported that their website has been for three months under massive DDоS attacks, which often happened on the same time as important events in the city’s political life, for instance, as the sessions of Lutsk city council.

According to the editorial office, the first coordinated hacker attack ran for straight 36 hours (on February 25 and 26). The website’s technical support explained that the attacks were performed by bots registered in many countries of the world addressing the website’s different sections and pages simultaneously.

The latest attack happened on April 26, when a scheduled session of the council was taking place. The tech support responded promptly and the website was accessible to its readership.

The director of VolynPost Yuiry Skovoroda explains that the attacks had different nature and some were easier to counteract and some took more time to neutralize.
