The Volyn Oblast National Police HQ reports that they have received no complaints about obstruction of reporting or violent threat to journalists since the beginning of 2025, according to the response by the National Police's regional HQ to a query by Maya Holub, the Institute of Mass Information representative in Volyn oblast.
According to the police, in 2025, the pre-trial investigation bodies have initiated no proceedings on such incidents and have made no decisions to refer cases to court or close them.
The police received no appeals regarding obstruction of reporting or threats in 2024, either.
On May 7, 2024, the Lutsk District Prosecutors opened a case for "Attempted criminal offense" and "Obstruction of legal reporting" over the phishing emails sent to the Investigative Journalism Center "Syla Pravdy" in early May. However, the case was closed three months later, as the police found no evidence of obstruction.
The police registered 11 proceedings for crimes committed against media representatives from January 1 to March 31, 2025. None of the cases were referred to court, two proceedings were closed, and in nine cases no decision was made.
