Vitaliy Sych on jeansa offers: Those arrive regularly, but we have our own rules and a reputation in the market
NV Media House is often approached by people offering to publish a commercial or political advertisement a without a proper label, but the media outlet refuses, says NV chief editor Vitaliy Sych in an interview with the IMI.
“Those offers arrive regularly, but we have our own rules and our own reputation in the market, and everyone knows who will post jeansa or commissioned content unlabeled. It’s no secret. And who won't, too. If we have a reputation for having refused 120 thousand times, then, generally, people won't ask so often anymore,” Sych noted.
According to him, similar offers come from business advertisers, but they are also turned down.
“We have a negative attitude towards this practice. It seems to me that one of the criteria for an independent media outlet is that it is independent not just of its owners, but also of its advertisers. Obviously, this is an easy way to make money, but the news spread very quickly through the market, and everyone knows it. I think one can earn thousands of dollars on this, but you can only earn big money for reputation and outreach," Vitaliy Sych said.
As reported earlier, more than 20 employees of NV Media House serve in Ukraine's Defense Forces.
