Ukrenergo warns of fakes about emergency blackouts being over, sent under the company's name
Ukraine's national energy company "Ukrenergo" warns of fake announcements of cancellation of emergency blackouts that have been spreading on social media. The announcements cite a fake website of the company.
"This is an attempt to distress the society with false information. We would like to remind you that emergency blackouts are a step we were forced to take, and it is only used as long as there is a shortage; the aim is to preserve the production–consumption balance in the power grid. The power supply industry will only be able to end the blackouts after enemy ceases attacking our power grid completely," the company notes.
"Ukrenergo" noted that it only has official pages on Facebook and Telegram, one on each platform.
"Anything other accounts on these social media which carry our logo are fakes and a Russian psy-op," the company added.
As reported by IMI, on November 20, "Ukrenergo" reported that a fake Telegram channel, purportedly created by the company to notify the audience of blackouts, had emerged.
