Ukrainian Witness filming crew comes under Russian fire in Zaporizhzhia oblast

17.01.2025, 11:30

Russians attacked a car carrying the filming crew of the YouTube project Ukrainian Witness (Marharyta Potapova, Oleksandr Davydenko) with drones.

As the description to the news story says, this happened during the crew's trip to the Spartan Brigade's positions. Journalist Marharyta Potapova noted that she was slightly stunned and the press officer was injured by shrapnel.

The press officer's hand is bleeding in the video. The news story also shows the damage to the car the filming crew was traveling in.

Marharyta Potapova said on Facebook that the car was still running after the shelling and it rolled away while those who had been in the car scattered and took cover. The Russians did not attack them again.

“Thank you to Sanya 'Operative' for the mood, to 'Black' and 'White' for their frankness, and to 'Mityai' for the coffee and the home-cooked meal. And, of course, to the driver who came for us and to our guide 'Lucky', as we would not have been able to go back if it wasn't for his eyes. The guys appreciated my sober reaction without screaming or hysterics. Of course, there's no guarantee that I will respond like this every time,” Marharyta wrote.

She posted the details for donations to help the soldiers crowdfund for electronic warfare systems.

As the IMI reported, the Donbas Realii crew (a Radio Liberty project), which came under fire while filming soldiers fighting near Bakhmut (Donetsk oblast) on October 10, 2024, released a full news story about the incident.
