Syrskyi awards medal to French documentarist Bernard-Henri Lévy
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, awarded a medal “For Assistance to the Army” to the French philosopher, author, documentary filmmaker, political journalist and intellectual Bernard-Henri Lévy, Oleksandr Syrskyi reported on Telegram on April 7.

“I have repeatedly met Bernard-Henri in combat areas, on hot battlefield. A world-class public intellectual, Mr. Lévy is armed with truth and is doing a tremendous job to ensure that the attention of the West remains focused on Ukraine, that Ukraine continues to be its ethical challenge,” Syrskyi wrote.
He stressed that through his films, essays, meetings with politicians, and speeches on high-profile platforms, Lévy calls for concrete action: arming Ukraine, stepping up sanctions against Russia, and recognizing Russia's crimes as genocide.
French philosopher and filmmaker Bernard-Henri Lévy produced three documentaries about Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine: “Why Ukraine,” “Slava Ukraini,” and “Glory to the Heroes!” The films have been screened in the US Congress to encourage the international community to continue supporting Ukraine.
