Ukraine ratifies the Istanbul Convention

The Verkhovna Rada ratified the Council of Europe Convention on the Prevention of Violence against Women and Domestic Violence (the Istanbul Convention). Bill №0157 on ratification was supported by 259 deputies, Liga reports. 193 deputies from the "Servant of the People" voted in favor. The remaining votes were given by the "Platform for Life and Peace" (15), "Dovira" (13), "Reconstruction of Ukraine" (12), "Holos" (10), "European Solidarity" (9), non-partisan deputies (5) and "For the Future" (2). There were only 8 votes against.
