An Ukrainska Pravda filming crew was attacked by security guards at the resort complex Edem Kyiv, where Lviv businessman and former MP Ihor Kryvetskyi stayed at the time, late on 9 July, Ukrainska Pravda reported, citing their chief investigator Mykhailo Tkach.
“Yesterday evening (9 July — ed.), during a celebration for Ihor Kryvetskyi at the resort complex Edem Kyiv, security guards attacked the Ukrainska Pravda filming crew using dye spray. Thank God the dye didn’t get into the cameraman’s or driver’s eyes,” Tkach said.
He added that he had filed a report with the police.
“We expect a swift and objective response from law enforcement,” the journalist said.
National Police spokeswoman Yuliya Hirdvilis told Ukrainska Pravda that the Kyiv oblast police had entered the data from the journalist’s statement into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under Part 1, Article 171 (“Obstruction of the lawful reporting”).
She added that law enforcement officers were looking into the incident and that investigative efforts were under way.
According to the outlet, Kryvetskyi opened a new five-star hotel, Edem Kyiv, in Koncha-Zaspa near Kyiv in 2025.
Attacks on UP‘s Mykhailo Tkach
As IMI reported, Ukrainska Pravda journalist Mykhailo Tkach reported SMS-bombing and mass phone calls after the publication of his story “Wartime Fast and Furious. People in the capital are being terrorized by street races” on 28 September 2022.
Later, Mykhailo Tkach reported facing obstruction of his reporting and linked it to the release of this news story.
On 13 October, Mykhailo Tkach reported being hit by a car. He added that he was “not inclined” to associate this case with his work, but noted that the VAZ driver sped up in front of a pedestrian crossing and in front of him. The Committee for Protection of Journalists (CPJ) called on the Ukrainian authorities to investigate the persecution of the Ukrainska Pravda team and the obstruction faced by Mykhailo Tkach.
An UP filming crew came under another attack in November 2023, as the journalists were filming next to a restaurant where former high-ranking officials from the Attorney General’s Office had been spotted.
