State TV and Radio Committee now has powers to impound published materials of the aggressor state and to penalize for disseminating it

Starting from December 15, the Decree of the State Television and Radio Broadcasting Committee became effective, according to which the committee is now able to impound published materials of the aggressor state (the Russian Federation) or those produced on the occupied territories of Ukraine, in case these materials are brought into Ukraine without the relevant permission, and also to impose administrative and economic penalty for disseminating it. This was reported at the website of State TV and Radio Committee.

The impounding will take place basing on requests from law enforcement agencies, legal entities and individuals, based on the Procedure, approved by the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine as of 05.04.2017, No.235.

This rules will not be applied for products that entered the customs territory of Ukraine before January 1, 2017.

For the context, on January 1, 2017, the Law of Ukraine “On amendment of some Laws of Ukraine concerning limitation of access to Ukrainian market of foreign printed materials with anti-Ukrainian content” became effective.
