Soldier, Vinnytsia journalist Taras Borysiuk goes missing in action
Soldier, Vinnytsia journalist Taras Borysiuk has gone missing in action in Kharkiv oblast, reports the team of the newspaper "33 Kanal".
According to the newspaper, the video circulated by Russian propaganda showing the torture of Ukrainian prisoners of war featured soldiers of the battalion No. 172 of the TDF brigade No. 120.
"The POWs mocked by the ruscists in the clip released by Ukraine's Commissioner are from our region. […] We tried to gather as much information as possible about these tragic days. It was when our colleague, 172nd battalion captain Taras Borysiuk, journalist, UAF volunteer, former editor of multiple Vinnytsia newspapers, went missing. According to witnesses, he was ambushed as he and his colleagues were driving a medical vehicle at the request of the gravely wounded," the newspaper writes.

The media outlet writes that the battalion No. 172 of the Vinnytsia territorial defense brigade became one of the units to engage with the enemy first during the Kharkiv oblast offensive in May 2024. Then the occupiers managed to capture the battalion's positions.
According to Vinnytsia-based writer Mykhailo Kameniuk, Taras Borysiuk was being treated in a hospital as recently as April. Then he rejoined the combat in Kharkiv oblast.
Taras Borysiuk was born on September 4, 1965 in Ternopil. He worked in Vinnytsia journalism for dozens of years, and was the long-standing editor of "Nova Vinnytska Hazeta".
