14.05.2020, 15:54

Six online media took top position in the list of the best quality media in terms of compliance with professional standards: Dzerkalo Tyzhdnya, Ukrainsky Tyzhden, Liga.net, Ukrinform, Bukvy and Public Broadcaster.

These are the results of an analythical survey into 19 online media that the "Institute of Mass Information" NGO held in April 2020with the support of "Internews-Network" *.

98.5% of the stories on the above resources did not contain any violation of journalism professional standards.

Ukrainska Pravda took the second place in terms of compliance with professional standards: 97.5% of the materials on the resource did not contain any violation. For the second time in a row, this is RBC-Ukraine which holds the third position, and this time, it was joined by Censor and Gordon.

At the same time, the worst online editions in terms of compliance with professional standards were Strana.ua (only 68% of materials without violations) and Znay.ua, where only 16% of stories had no violations (thast is to say, the vast majority of materials on this portal are nothing to do with professional journalism) .

According to the IMI research, the professional journalistic standard of separating facts from comments is  themost often violated in Ukrainian online media. On average, this standard was met in 91% of materials.

The second place was up to violation of the standard of credibility (it was met in 94.5% of the total number of materials), and the best respected standard in online media was balance standard – respected in 97% of the total number of materials.
