Self-proclaimed "governor " of Luhansk region ordered to shut off Ukrainian "pro-fascist TV channels"

14.05.2014, 13:37

At the beginning of May, the self-proclaimed "governor" of Luhansk region Valeriy Bolotov ordered to shut off broadcasting of Ukrainian TV channels, as he believes, they are «pro-fascist-oriented». These channels include «1+1», the First National TV channel, Channel 5, Channel 24, «Ukraina», and Channel 112.

For the context, in Luhansk on May 1 the Russian channel «Rossia 24» replaced the First National TV channel on its frequency. In several days, «1+1» and Channel 5 got shut off. A significant part of cable TV operators in Luhansk region shut off the mentioned TV channels. The TV channel «Ukraina» was affected the least as it gets shut off not as often as others.
